Atlântico FIR
Attention!
All Atlântico FIR positions (SBAO_FSS and its split sectors) are designated Tier 2 under the VATSIM GCAP and are grouped under a single VATSIM Brasil endorsement, identified as Oceanic Positions.
Holding the required rating is not enough. To staff any of these positions you must, cumulatively, be on the division's ATC Roster, hold at least the C1 rating and have received this specific endorsement.
Contact the VATSIM Brasil Training Center to learn about the process for obtaining it.
The manual
The Atlântico FIR is the only oceanic FIR in VATSIM Brasil. It is served by the Atlântico ACC, callsign CENTRO ATLÂNTICO or ATLANTICO CENTER, and covers the South Atlantic out to the 010° W meridian.
What changes here is not the size, it is the method: there is no radar surveillance and no direct VHF. The controller does not see the aircraft; they reconstruct it from what it reports. The whole operation follows from that.
This manual is the working reference for preparing, opening and operating the SBAO_FSS position. It is organized in the order in which things happen during a session.

Precedence
Content for flight simulation. The following prevail, in this order: the current official aeronautical publication, the sector package distributed by VATSIM Brasil (callsigns, frequencies and logons) and the current VATSIM policy (authorization, rating and endorsement).
