Runways

Runway system

SBSG has one runway, 12/30 (3000 × 60 m, asphalt). Taxiway B runs along the north side of the runway from end to end and reaches the thresholds through B1 (12) and B4 (30). The rapid exits DD and CC link the runway to B.

  • Runway 12

ILS CAT I, RNP, NAV APV and VOR. The only one with a precision approach. DD and CC are rapid exits for aircraft landing on 12.

  • Runway 30

Non-precision approaches only (RNP, NAV APV and VOR).

Runway selection

The AIP sets no preferential runway and no tailwind limit: the runway in use follows the wind. In calm wind, 12 has the advantage of the ILS and the rapid exits.

30 3000 × 60 m 3000 m 3000 m Non-precision PAPI
  • The AD accepts aircraft up to code 4E2.

  • SBSG has no DCL in the AIP3: Clearance delivers the clearance by voice. Without DEL, the position covering it top-down (GND, TWR, APP or ACC).

Areas of responsibility

Yellow strip: Tower. Rest: Ground. The dashed line runs through the holding points. White circles: apron numbers.
Position Responsible for
GND Aprons 1 to 3, TWY APN 1, A, B, E, F and the links up to the holding point
TWR Runway 12/30 and the taxiways inside the holding points (B1, B4, CC and DD)
  • SBSG has no Apron position: Ground handles all aprons.
  • Every movement on the apron, engine start, pushback and taxi out under own power need ATC authorization5.
  • Departures: Ground hands off to Tower before the holding point.
  • Arrivals: once the aircraft vacates the runway, Tower hands off to Ground.

Ground flow

General rule

  • TWY B runs along the north side of the runway and reaches both thresholds: through B1 on 12 and B4 on 30.
  • F links apron 2 to B and E links apron 1. A runs between F and E, parallel to B.
  • APN 1 runs in front of the three aprons and links the stands to F and E.
  • DD and CC are rapid exits for aircraft landing on 12. On 30 they need a tight turn.

Ground flow on runway 12: departures via F and B to B1; arrivals vacating via DD and returning via B and E to apron 1
Green: departures. Blue: arrivals.

  • Departures (12): from the apron via F (or E), B westbound to B1 (threshold 12).
  • Arrivals (12): vacate via DD (~1390 m) or CC (~1860 m) and return via B to E or F.

Example: GLO1234, taxi to holding point runway 12 via F, B, B1.

Ground flow on runway 30: departures via E and B to B4; arrivals vacating via DD and continuing via B and F to apron 2
Green: departures. Blue: arrivals.

  • Departures (30): from the apron via E (or F), B eastbound to B4 (threshold 30).
  • Arrivals (30): vacate via DD (~1310 m) and continue via B to F or E. Aircraft that can't make the DD turn vacate at the end, via B1.

Example: AZU4321, taxi to holding point runway 30 via E, B, B4.

Runway exits

Runway Exits
12 DD (~1390 m, rapid), CC (~1860 m, rapid) or B4 (end)
30 CC (~840 m), DD (~1310 m) or B1 (end)

Approximate distance from the threshold to the exit, measured on the diagram. On 30, CC and DD need a tight turn.

Taxi restrictions

Restriction Where
Apron 3 General aviation only, maximum wingspan 24 m5
Helicopters Direct approach to apron 3, then taxi to the stand assigned by Tower4
ATC authorization Any movement on the apron, engine start, pushback and taxi out under own power5

Runway Point TORA Used by
12 B1 (threshold) 3000 m All
30 B4 (threshold) 3000 m All
  • The AIP publishes no intersection takeoffs. DD and CC join the runway at an angle and are not takeoff points.

Aprons and airlines

Reference for simulation. Stands follow the PDC charts; airlines follow the airport's airline list on Wikipedia. The split between stands is a simplification, not the airport's official allocation. VAs use the stands of the real airline they represent.
