Operations

Approaches and Landings

  • Simultaneous APCH OPS to RWY 16L and 16R are AUTH, as follows:
    • ACFT will be informed via ATIS or by the ATC unit when RWY 16L and 16R are being used for simultaneous APCH;
    • An ACFT on a VFR flight may be AUTH for a simultaneous APCH with another on a visual or instrument APCH to RWY 16L and 16R, provided the pilot reports the preceding ACFT in sight and that visual separation can be maintained;
    • An ACFT on a VFR flight may be AUTH by TWR Natal to join the traffic circuit and make a simultaneous APCH with another VFR flight, visual APCH or instrument APCH to RWY 16L and 16R, providing its own separation from the other ACFT on APCH.
  • Rotary-wing ACFT are not AUTH to make a direct APCH to apron 1.

Aerodrome Regulations

  • OPS of civil ACFT subject to AUTH from the Commander of Natal Air Base.
  • MIL ACFT bound for Natal: call on FREQ 122.500.
  • Filing flight plans and their updates by radiotelephony is PRB.

Aprons and Taxiways

  • TWY D: taxiing of ACFT with a wingspan greater than 18M is PRB.

  • OBS ACFT on training flights near the AD.
  • OBS concentration of birds (especially vultures) in the APCH SECT of THR 12, 16L and 16R.
