Operations

Approaches and Landings

  • Land with caution due to F-5 arresting barriers positioned between the stopways and the THR of RWY 05/23.
  • RAG RWY 05 and RWY 23: cable (hook) arresting only.

Aerodrome Regulations

  • OPS of civil ACFT only with prior AUTH from the BASC Commander.
  • It is mandatory to report the estimated DEP/LDG time and contact the Duty Operations Officer (OPO) on FREQ 121.150 at least 15 MIN in advance, so that a RWY inspection can be carried out. Non-compliance may result in a go-around or airborne holding.
  • Contact with OPS Santa Cruz on FREQ 121.150 is mandatory before engine start.
  • When the D-TWR service is unavailable, only FIS and ALRS will be provided.
  • OBS VAC for joining or leaving the traffic circuit.
  • OBS the PROC set out in AIC 20/21.
  • Overflight of area SBR 346 MOEDA above 500FT within the Santa Cruz CTR only with prior AUTH from TWR Santa Cruz.
  • AUTH to cross the Santa Cruz CTR (outside the visual corridors) for ACFT on visual flights will only be granted under the following conditions:
    • Prior AUTH from APP Santa Cruz and/or TWR Santa Cruz;
    • No interference with the TFC circuit, DEP or LDG at SBSC;
    • No military operation at SBSC;
    • No interference with the Restinga restricted airspace (SBR 309);
    • No interference with the Marambaia restricted airspaces (SBR 313, SBR 314 and SBR 333);
    • No overflight of SDMR.
  • State ACFT are not subject to the restrictions above; the crossing will be AUTH provided it does not endanger OPS at SBSC and does not interfere with the restricted airspaces.
  • Filing flight plans by RTF is not AUTH.

Runways

  • DEP/LDG OPS preferably on RWY 23 due to wildlife risk (capybaras).
  • RWY 05: LDG/TKOF OPS of fixed-wing ACFT AUTH BTN 01HR AFT SR and 01HR BFR SS.
  • RWY 23: CLSD for night LDG/TKOF OPS of fixed-wing ACFT.
  • RWY 23: daytime TGL OPS of ACFT not based at BASC only with AUTH from the BASC Commander.

Additional Information

  • Presence of animals in the vicinity of RWY 05/23.
