Operations
Departures
- Pilots must plan the taxi so as to take off upon reaching the holding point. Otherwise, inform ground control.
- Line-up must be immediate once cleared.
- Begin the takeoff roll immediately after being cleared (maximum expected reaction time: 10 seconds).
- After takeoff and transfer from TWR, immediately make the initial call to APP Porto Alegre in order to obtain instructions to leave the departure runway centerline.
- The initial call to APP after takeoff shall be immediate and follow only this format: CONTROLE PALEGRE [CALLSIGN]. Do not include any additional information beyond this format.
- Unless instructed otherwise, the pilot shall configure the ACFT to take off from the following intersections in order to ensure the MROT:
- RWY 11:
- TWY
A/J: available TORA to THR 29: 3200 m - TWY
C: available TORA to THR 29: 2627 m
- TWY
- RWY 29:
- TWY
E: available TORA to THR 11: 1994 m - TWY
F: available TORA to THR 11: 1507 m - First turn bay: available TORA to THR 11: 2280 m
- TWY
- RWY 11:
- Departures from RWY 11 should preferably be made from TWY
A/J(rigid pavement). Use of TWYCwill only be AUTH during HIRO hours, upon prior COORD with ground control, and may be denied according to ATC planning. - Departures from RWY 29 shall be made from the intersection with TWY
E. If this is not possible, the pilot must inform when requesting the flight plan clearance. - When cleared for takeoff from intersections
C,EandF(flexible pavement), the entry must follow the yellow line, avoiding pivoting on the spot.
Approaches and Landings
- During HIRO, ACFT of reference codes A, B and C and scheduled commercial flights must fly between 140KT and 170KT IAS between the IF and the FAF of instrument approach procedures. Speeds assigned by ATC are mandatory.
- Pilots must vacate the runway completely at the fastest speed permitted by standard operating procedures before decelerating to taxi speed, allowing ATC to apply minimum separation on final approach. Braking must be managed so that the roll to the exit TWY is not made at low speed.
- Expected runway exits:
- RWY 11:
- TWY
F: 1502 m from THR 11 - TWY
E: 1994 m from THR 11 - Backtrack: perform at the 1st turn bay
- TWY
- RWY 29:
- TWY
C: 2627 m from THR 29
- TWY
- RWY 11:
- If it is necessary to vacate via another TWY, perform a backtrack, or the ACFT is not configured for the exits above, inform APP Porto Alegre or TWR on first contact, preferably at the FAF.
- Do not mistake the RWY 11 lights for those of Av. Sertório, parallel to and 900M (0.5NM) to the right of the runway.
- ACFT on final APCH to RWY 29: do not mistake it for the APCH to RWY 31 of Canoas AD, to the right of the path.
Aerodrome Regulations
- High Intensity Runway Operations (HIRO) are applied between 0800-0000 UTC. The application time is announced on the ATIS and may be changed by ATC according to demand. Pilots must adjust landing and takeoff to ensure the Minimum Runway Occupancy Time (MROT).
- The AD may be used regularly by any ACFT compatible with RCD 4E or lower.
- OBS VAC for joining or leaving the TFC circuit.
- OBS danger areas SBD 578 and SBD 579 (Porto Alegre 1 and 2 obstacles) for contingency procedures and low-altitude VMC circulation near the AD.
- The following classes and types of ACFT are restricted:
- ACFT WO RDO EQPT;
- GLD;
- ACFT WO transponder or with a failure of this EQPT;
- Powered ultralight FLT.
- The following air services are restricted:
- Dropping of objects or spraying;
- ACFT towing;
- Parachute jumping;
- Aerobatic FLT.
- Filing simplified flight plans by radiotelephony to TWR is PRB.
- APP Porto Alegre will not accept AFIL flight plans from ACFT departing aerodromes without an ATS unit located within the Porto Alegre CTR and/or TMA and their lateral projections.
