Runways

Runway Preferred ILS Pattern
15 Preferred Standard
33 - Standard

Preferred Runway Operation

In weather conditions with a tailwind component of less than 7KT, the preferred runway for landing and takeoff will be RWY 15. This runway will normally be used in preference to RWY 33, provided that the runway surface is dry.

When the runway in use is RWY 15 with a tailwind component, pilots requesting clearance to use RWY 33 should expect that their landing or takeoff may be delayed.

Operations

Departures

  • Aircraft must call on the specific frequency of each control position (TWR 118.250 MHZ, GND 121.900 MHZ, CLRD 121.100 MHZ).
  • Pilots must call Campinas Delivery or perform an RCD (Request for Departure Clearance downlink) to request clearance no more than 15 minutes before EOBT.
  • When communications are transferred to Campinas TWR, Ground will instruct ACFT to monitor the TWR frequency, and no initial call is required. In this case, ACFT must wait for the TWR call and be prepared for a possible immediate takeoff.
  • Pilots must be ready for takeoff when reaching the holding point. Otherwise, inform ground control.
  • Line-up must be immediate once cleared.
  • Begin the takeoff roll immediately once cleared (maximum expected reaction time: 10 seconds).
  • Campinas TWR will not report the TKOF time to ACFT. Except in exceptional situations, ACFT must keep listening to the TWR frequency until crossing the opposite threshold of the departure RWY or until starting the turn, and then call the next ATC unit. The instruction regarding the FREQ of the next unit to be contacted AFT TKOF and, if necessary, any additional instructions will be issued together with the ATC clearance.
  • Make the initial call to São Paulo APP immediately after takeoff in order to obtain instructions to leave the departure runway centerline.
  • The initial call to APP after takeoff shall be immediate and follow only this format: SÃO PAULO CONTROL [CALLSIGN]. Do not include any additional information beyond this format.
  • Pilots must say so when receiving the ATC clearance if they are unable to comply with any of the procedures above.
  • Aircraft shall be configured to take off from the following intersections:
    • RWY 15:
      • Aircraft with reference code A, B and C
        • TWY H
        • Distance from Taxiway H to threshold 33: Available TORA: 2910 m
    • RWY 33:
      • Aircraft with reference code A and B
        • TWY F
        • Distance from Taxiway F to threshold 15: Available TORA: 2208 m
  • If it is not possible to take off from the intersections above, the pilot must say so when requesting the flight plan clearance. ACFT with reference codes not listed may also be cleared to take off from these intersections on request.

Approaches and Landings

  • Speed restriction for sequencing: at 5NM from the threshold, maintain between 150KT and 170KT; then reduce to approach speed. If ATC assigns a different speed, maintain the assigned speed. ACFT unable to comply with these speeds must inform ATC and state which speeds they can use.
  • All ACFT entering the Campinas CTR must call São Paulo APP on FREQ 119.800 or 133.850 MHZ.
  • Pilots must vacate the runway at the fastest speed permitted by standard operating procedures and consistent with operational safety, allowing ATC to apply minimum separation on final approach. All landing ACFT must make sure the runway has been completely vacated before coming to a full stop.
  • Pilots shall vacate the runway via the taxiways listed below or inform São Paulo APP and/or Campinas TWR if they are not configured to use them:
    • RWY 15:
      • CAT A and B aircraft
        • TWY A
        • Distance from threshold 15 to Taxiway A: Available LDA: 1100 m
      • CAT C and D aircraft
        • TWY A, B or F
        • Distance from threshold 15 to Taxiway A: Available LDA: 1100 m
        • Distance from threshold 15 to Taxiway B: Available LDA: 1570 m
        • Distance from threshold 15 to Taxiway F: Available LDA: 2200 m
    • RWY 33:
      • All aircraft up to CAT C
        • TWY B
        • Distance from threshold 33 to Taxiway B: Available LDA: 1350 m
  • ACFT instructed to go around outside the profile published in the IAC must, in case of communication failure, climb to 6000FT and, once reached, fly towards the IAF of the procedure in use.

Aerodrome Regulations

  • High Intensity Runway Operations (HIRO) are applied H24. Pilots must adjust landing and takeoff so as to ensure the MROT.
  • Reduced runway separation minima (RRSM) between ACFT using the same runway may be applied, provided that:
    • It is daytime, from 30 minutes after sunrise until 30 minutes before sunset;
    • Wake turbulence separation minima are applied;
    • Visibility is at least 5 km and the ceiling is not lower than 300 m (1000 ft);
    • The tailwind component does not exceed 3KT;
    • Braking action is not adversely affected by runway contaminants such as water; and
    • Information on RRSM application is included in the ATIS message.
  • Minimum distances for RRSM (the preceding ACFT must have passed a point at least 2400 m from the threshold of the runway in use):
    • Landing after landing: the preceding ACFT must be in motion and vacate the runway without backtracking;
    • Landing after departure and departure after departure.
  • The AD may be used regularly by any ACFT compatible with RCD 4E or lower; Boeing 747-8 operations are permitted (in accordance with the special procedures described in the annex to the MOPS approved by ANAC).
  • Training flights are prohibited DLY 0800-1300, 1400-1800 and 1900-0200 UTC. VFR and IFR training flights are subject to prior COOR and AUTH.
  • Filing flight plans via radiotelephony is not AUTH.
  • The following classes and types of ACFT are restricted:
    • ACFT WO RDO EQPT;
    • GLD;
    • ACFT WO transponder or with a failure of this EQPT;
    • Powered ultralight FLT.
  • The following air services are restricted:
    • Dropping of objects or spraying;
    • ACFT towing;
    • Parachute jumping;
    • Aerobatic FLT.

Aprons and Taxiways

  • Pushback is compulsory when leaving the aprons; exceptions are handled with the AD.
  • Entering the parking position without marshaller guidance is PRB.
  • Engine start of ACFT on Apron 2 only on the central taxi lane and from PSN 1 and 2.
  • General civil aviation ACFT OPS only with AUTH from the Airport Operations Center; use of a tow bar is compulsory.

Additional Information

  • OPR with caution due to bird concentration (vultures and hawks) in the FNA SECT of RWY 15 and 33 and along the entire RWY, with higher presence between 0800-1500.
  • Presence of hoary foxes along RWY 15/33, mainly during the SS-SR period.
  • Beware of the possibility of unmanned hot-air balloons (festa junina balloons). Higher incidence in May, June, July and August.
