33 - Non-standard
11 Preferred Non-standard
29 - Non-standard

Preferred Runway Operation

In weather conditions with a tailwind component less than or equal to 7KT, the preferred runway configuration for landing and takeoff will be the use of RWY 11 and RWY 15. This configuration will normally be used in preference to RWY 29 and RWY 33, provided that the runway surface is dry.

When the runway system in use is RWY 11 and RWY 15 with a tailwind component, pilots requesting clearance to use the RWY 29 and RWY 33 system should expect that their landing or takeoff may be delayed.

Operations

Departures

  • Pilots shall plan the TKOF so as to arrive at the holding point ready to perform it. If an immediate TKOF is not possible, inform the ATC unit in advance.
  • Upon receiving TKOF clearance, the pilot is expected to begin the takeoff roll immediately (the expected reaction time is up to 10 seconds).
  • Curitiba TWR will not report the TKOF time to ACFT. The instruction regarding the FREQ of the next unit to be contacted AFT TKOF and, if necessary, any additional instructions will be issued together with the TKOF AUTH.
  • Make the initial call to Curitiba APP immediately after takeoff in order to obtain instructions to leave the departure runway centerline.
  • The initial call to APP after takeoff shall follow only this format: CURITIBA CONTROL, [CALLSIGN]. Do not include any additional information beyond this format.
  • Turboprop and piston aircraft must expect radar vectors or a clearance direct to a published waypoint right after takeoff.
  • Aircraft with reference code A, B and C shall be configured to take off from RWY 11 or RWY 15 from the intersection with TWY C. If it is not possible to comply with this procedure, the pilot must say so when requesting the flight plan clearance.
  • RWY 15
    • TWY C
      • Distance from TWY C to THR 33 – Available TORA: 1740 m

Approaches and Landings

  • During LDG OPS, pilots will not report the landing gear COND to Curitiba TWR, EXC in EMERG situations relating to its extension and/or locking.
  • Pilots must vacate the runway at the fastest speed permitted by standard operating procedures and consistent with operational safety, allowing ATC to apply minimum separation on final approach.
  • When landing on RWY 15, aircraft should be configured to vacate the runway via TWY F, in order to achieve the MROT and to facilitate the flow of aircraft on TWY B.
  • When landing on RWY 33, aircraft shall be configured to vacate the runway via TWY C. Inform Curitiba APP, Curitiba TWR or equivalent if unable to comply with this procedure.
  • RWY 33
    • TWY C
      • Distance from TWY C to THR 33 - Available LDA: 1740 m
  • After vacating the runway, do not call the ground control frequency until instructed by the control tower.

Aerodrome Regulations

  • OBS VAC for joining or leaving the TFC circuit.
  • Local flights in the traffic circuit, IFR procedure training, touch-and-go or other types of training that interfere with aerodrome movements may be restricted, depending on the amount of traffic operating at the aerodrome.
  • The following classes and types of ACFT are restricted:
    • ACFT WO RDO EQPT;
    • GLD;
    • ACFT WO transponder or with a failure of this EQPT;
    • Powered ultralight FLT.
  • The following air services are restricted:
    • Dropping of objects or spraying;
    • ACFT towing;
    • Parachute jumping;
    • Aerobatic FLT.
  • The AD may be used regularly by any ACFT compatible with RCD 4E or lower.
  • Special Operations Authorizations: Boeing 747-8F.

Aprons and Taxiways

  • Pushback is mandatory for ACFT with a wingspan greater than 24m when leaving the PRKG.
  • TWY B between E and A exclusive to ACFT with a maximum wingspan of 36m.
  • TWY A limited to ACFT with a maximum wingspan of 36m.
  • In Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC), the operation of aircraft with reference code letter "D" and "E" on taxiway "B" is prohibited while aircraft classified with reference code number 3 or 4 are landing or taking off on runway 15/33.

Runways

  • In order to optimize aerodrome traffic flow, the preferred use of the runways will be as follows:
    • RWY 11
      • Takeoff of CAT A, B and C aircraft; and
      • Landing of CAT A and B aircraft.
    • RWY 15
      • Landings and takeoffs of CAT C and above.
    • RWY 29
      • Takeoff of turboprop aircraft.
    • RWY 33
      • Landings and takeoffs of CAT C and above.
  • Type of operation per runway/threshold:
    • RWY 15/33
      • Reference code: 4E
      • RWY 15: VFR / IFR – CAT II – day/night;
      • RWY 33: VFR / IFR – CAT I – day/night;
    • RWY 11/29
      • Reference code: 3C
      • RWY 11: VFR / IFR - Non-precision - day/night;
      • RWY 29: VFR / IFR - Non-precision - day/night.
  • RWY 15/33 and RWY 11/29: 180 DEG turn (backtrack) for ACFT with MTOW above 40 tonnes only at the THR.
