Operations

Aerodrome Regulations

  • Military aerodrome of the Air Force Academy. Civil aircraft only operate (including as an alternate) with prior authorization from the Academy Command.
  • Three parallel runways: 02L/20R and 02C/20C are 2108 x 45 m, and 02R/20L is 1902 x 45 m. ILS on runway 02C only; IFR procedures use 02C/20C.
  • Backtracking on runway 02L/20R is prohibited for aircraft not based at the AFA.
  • Instrument approach and departure procedures are prohibited for aircraft not involved in training when the aerodrome is operating VFR with training or glider flights active.

Aprons and Taxiways

  • TWY Charlie, near THR 20C, operates with caution because the TWR cannot see that section.

Traffic Pattern

  • The pattern and entry for SDPY (Pirassununga Aero Club) are flown through the W sector at a compulsory height of 1000 ft.
  • Aircraft crossing area SBD 424 must stay outside 15 NM of SBYS unless cleared by Academia APP or TWR.
